Beautiful silk but the color is not as I expected. It's orange not red

I am working on a cross stitch project as a gift for my sister. It has a red cardinal bird in the design. This color is perfect. I had a problem with the color coming off on my fingers and once I made a mistake and pulled out the stitches and it left a red/pink cast on the cloth. It did not come off when I used double sided tape or a small brush.
