Please stay with me unless this is too long. This has truly been a long and very hard road I have been traveling for the past several months. Many sweet friends here have reached out to me and I do so much appreciate them. There have been a few flames but that's just life I guess. And here's the reason I haven't been on the message board. I live with daughter and three grandkids. We have lived in the present house for seven years. When we moved into this house the rent was reasonable. Each year the rent was raised quite a bit but now it is triple what it was in the beginning. Nobody can afford it. Many neighbors have already left. We have searched for months for another house to rent that is affordable but as soon as we find something it is already rented. Rental property here in Daytona Beach goes quickly. And in the meantime my 60 yr. old son moved here with us from New Jersey because he had been out of work for over a year and was completely broke. One more thing to complicate our already horrible situation. So here we are now. We are going to be moving into an apartment complex...my daughter and grands in one and my son and I in another. This will be a big adjustment for me as I haven't lived in an apartment since college and living with my son will be another. But I will manage somehow I know. We have been approved for the apartements but won't be moving into them until early next week. I'm sure it's going to be a hard process getting moved and moved in there. A lot of things will have to be discarded but that is also just life. We came into this life with nothing so what we have belongs to our God anyway. I have appreciated your prayers along the way but please pray for me through this difficult time and I hope to be stitching and posting here again soon. God bless all of you.
P.S. I know you will all appreciate this mess I just made. My cabinet that holds all of my DMC threads has fallen over and all of the threads are in a gigantic pile. These will definitely have to wait until my sanity returns!

You are trusting God, He knows exactly what we need and does provide, sometimes not as quickly as we would like but with Him in charge, all will work out. Rentals up here in our small city and surroundings are to the point where people are living in their cars. And while higher taxes and costs of upkeep are driving the prices up, I think a lot of it has to do with greed.

We're with you, Jan, and praying for you. Apartment living will be a big adjustment, but it may turn our to be a good thing in the long run - no maintenance or yard work. Once you're settled in, insist that your son look for a job to help out - there must be a McDonalds or Publix nearby, and both hire seniors.

Good to hear from you and know that you are well,a few bumps in the road,well sometimes they are just wake up calls.As a woman of faith i know that you know,"when GOD closes a door,he opens a window" which is what he is doing for you now.It's up to you now to through that window with peace of mind knowing you have a place to lay your head.As the op said insist that your son get a job to help out,you shouldn't have to carry the load alone.
As for the stuff,it's just that,stuff,get rid of what you don't need/want,take pictures of it if it's something you want to remember,those are easy to store than boxes and crates.
I wish you well on this new journey,i pray it all works out for you and once you get settled in that you'll be able to pick up that needle,and start back to where you left off with your stitching,and your life will fall back into place,and be less stressful than it has been.Take care of yourself,you are the most important person you have.

First it is good to hear from you! I agree with all the others, God is sending all of you somewhere for a good reason. Your son will hopefully go to the local unemployment office if he is looking for work >>> I was there many years ago >>>and I took the job because I needed a roof over my head and needed to eat and pay bus fare to get to work (no car). Eventually I was able to get a better paying job.

May I also suggest, since your son is moving in w/ you, a list of chores/jobs that he will be responsible for? It seems men fall back easily into being taken care of...if not told your expectations. You should not take on this burden alone. Sending good thoughts so you can get back to your "beachy" stiching as I love to see your Finishes.
