While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

I am extremely disappointed with the newest kits made with the PVC. Not because of the quality of the material but because the print from the patterns sticks to the pvc and the black print from the pattern transfers onto the coloured PVC.
In this case the PVC is a very light yellowish/green, so the black print on it is very noticeable.
I am hoping most of the pattern will cover this black ink up.
I have noticed this with several kits now. Thank goodness most kits have a darker pvc.
Not impressed with Mill Hill lately with missed items in kits, swapped out treasures to a cheaply made one and not including certain threads in others.
This used to be a great company but seems to be going down hill lately.

This ornament is really cute! I cross stitch ornaments every year for my self and family and they love them. This was a new one this year and I know they will enjoy it!
