While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

This kit has everything you need!!! It is such a fun stitch - I'm having so much fun watching the bears come to life!

My only complaint about this kit was that the floss was in all in one bundle and was near impossible to figure out which color was which. I actually had to go to my stash of floss, find each DMC number and compare it to the kit floss to correct the many mistakes I had made at guessing each color. Mill Hill should separate the floss into 2-3 hanks to enable identification.
