I have wanted to try a Carriage House Samplings chart, but did want to dive into the really big pieces yet. I love this pattern it has all the things I love to stitch in once pattern, animals, landscapes, music and typography -- love the colors too. I am really enjoying this piece and started it as soon as I got it even with all the WIPs I already have.

This is a really well-designed pattrrn and an easy stitch. It is great that the designer gives you the choice between the more expensive silk threads or the DMC cotton. If this was to be a gift, I would use the silk. Since I have never seen the Shenandoah River, but love the song, I am stitching it for myself. It has a modern flavor, as opposed to samplers. I am using the DMC, which is my favorite floss for softness, workability, strength and price.
