"Bombe Surprise" is a French expression, and one which certainly doesn't call for an interpreter to translate - "The Surprise Bomb".
It's a decadent, luxuriously self-indulgent desert which first put in an appearance in the 1880's. Quite simply, ice cream is frozen in a spherical mould so that it resembles a cannon ball, hence the name, then tarted up a bit.
And the "surprise" element becomes apparent when the bombe is sliced open revealing unexpected layers, tastes and textures hidden within its frozen shell. Fruits, nuts, chocolate, a band of mousse, a slug of alcohol, even cake, are some of the varied and delicious possibilities a Bombe Surprise could hold in store for those who dare to lock spoons with this amazing pudding.
Stitched on your choice of fabric using DMC threads. Stitch count is 115 x 149. Finished size is 7.9 x 9.31 for 32 count fabric.
