While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

This kit is perfect to go along with my other Mill Hill winter buildings.
I just wish that Mill Hill would replenish the stock of winter buildings at 123stitch.com as I have been waiting more than a year for some of the to be restocked, but they still haven't arrived.
I love these kits from Mill Hill as everything in included to complete these kits.

These Mill Hill kits are adorable and fairly easy to make up. I like the fact that there is a series of them that can be made into a really attractive holiday display. I don't use as much of the bead embellishments as the instructions suggest - I think less is more, but the fact that you can "customize" them is also a big plus. Also kind of fun is the perforated paper - you obviously don't need a hoop or a frame, but - be aware - it is paper and must be handled with some care. Like the Prairie Schooler Santas, this series could be used in a lot of different applications.
