This sampler, which I have named the Sewing Box Sampler 1 because it and another were found in a sewing box, is of unknown date and origin. As you can see, there is no name or date on this sampler, and as you can see from the original, it was unfinished. Perhaps the stitcher meant to stitch her name... Read more
The original sampler was stitched in 1812 in Troy, N.Y. The reproduction model was stitched on an Antique White #28 linen over one thread. The stitch count is: 80 W x 109 H and the finished size over one is: 2.8" W x 3.8" H. The following colors were used: Weeks Dye Works - Kentucky Bluegrass and Verdigris, and Hickory Sticks and Tiny Vine from Classic Colorworks.
