While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

Great result. Petite beads look very neatly.
- Standalone crosses in 3 thread are not easy to fix. A lot of small groups (3-6 stitches)
Dark backstitch looks too bright on a preview but finished work looks better.

I love Jim Shore’s Christmas cross stitch of Santa and the Snowmen. I have made many and continue to purchase more. I love to watch the picture come alive in my hand with each stitch.

I have stitched many a Mill Hill Santa in the past and have missed doing them. So ordering the Jim Shore Santas and Snowmen did not require a lot of thinking. Can't wait to start them early in 2020 so they are ready for Christmas 2020. Thanks 123 Stitch you never fail to provide excellent service.
