from United States on 01/16/2024 - Difficult Pattern to Follow This is a beautiful design. I have enjoyed stitching it. However, I have had difficulty following the pattern. This design is on multiple sheets of paper. Where one page ends the next page begins. There is no overlap to help you find your place. Some patterns put a couple rows from the connecting page and gray it over to help you see the transition. I prefer that type of pattern because it is very easy to follow. This pattern does not do that so it was hard for me to line up correctly especially since there were transitions right at the connecting pages that were easy to miss. There is also at least one typo in the design that I did not find right away. The red flower in the middle to the right side the bird above the basket is incorrect according to the other two flowers like it and also the picture. I corrected it by making the other two flowers match the mistake so no-harm-no-foul, but it is annoying when these things happen. I would not be so concerned about the pattern lining up correctly except that there is a border around the entire picture. I was afraid that if I did not stay true to the design I would end up with my alphabet and border not lining up and that would be a huge disaster. It might be a good idea to start with the outside, but I didn't do that because my material was not that much larger than the design so I thought starting in the middle might be best. If I did it over again I would start at the top left and work the border first. After I stitched the center center, I started the border directly under the basket and chose to work on it and the picture right above it at the same time. That way I was sure it lined up correctly. The bottom of the design in not the problem. The letters across the top are what needs to line up or it will not be symmetrical. Sorry for the long explanation. I am just trying to save you some of the aggravation I had while stitching this design. I do love it though and once I realized I needed to be extra careful with the connecting stitches then all went well. The one color floss was out of stock for so long I almost just made a substitution so I could get this one done. I am very glad I did not do that. The colors as listed as so perfect and the variegated floss on the leaves and the birds really makes it special. I also worked this on a large stretcher bar and pinned the side to the bars with needlepoint tacks to keep everything as tight as possible. That helped a lot. Happy Stitching!
