I just love the way she turned out! Mary is the second sampler in the Samplings in Color, where I take a very simple little sampler and give her a makeover, although the sampler is a reproduction, and the colors are in keeping with the original. She would look great on a neutral linen as well.... Read more
Has it been a year already since this sampler was released as a club piece? It was released in a very muted version, however, my original vision of the sampler was a bit brighter. So now you have the option of both. The title is the brainchild of my friend Lisa Duffin, who is great with coming up... Read more
Mary Fosh 1821 has been an eight month stitch along for the Tudor Rose Sampler Guild, and she has a beautiful palette, and despite being English she looks like American Folk Art to me. She was so enjoyable to stitch, and I am so excited to share her with you.

Note from designer: Isabella Hunter was born February 16, 1875 in Troon, Ayrshire, Scotland. There was a paper originally attached to the back of the sampler with the written words "Isa(bella) & Ma". This suggests that maybe Isa and her mother worked on this sampler together.
The stitching in this beautiful sampler with the sacred hearts includes the name Malvina Roisset and the date 1891. I think Marie Louise Malvina Roisset, who would have been 10 years old in 1891, could very well be the stitcher.

Note from designer: George Wishart Creighton was born 22 June 1856 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The words Native American (with emphasis on the capitalization of the N and A) on the sampler refer not to George's lineage but rather to a group of Protestants. We believe that the motif immediately to... Read more
Note from designer: The only part I left off of the reproduction is the section just below the alphabet. This sampler does have a lot of over 1 & eyelets.

Note from the designer - "An intensely stitched and well-planned sampler, this unusual piece probably originated in Pennsylvania. The allegorical figure hovering over the house could represent Liberty. The unconnected border of floating honeysuckle is unique, as well as the little pastoral vignettes in the lower register." Rated for beginners.
Note from the designer - "Mary Bailey stitched this sampler in England and finished it in 1818. It demonstrates an advanced level of skill given the symmetry of the design and its many diverse elements: a red brick mansion house with four chimneys- a sign of wealth in early 19th century England,...
