I actually put calico or some small print cotton as a liner to hide the backside of the needlework and it is truly beautiful. The needlework part of the project takes me about 1- days. That's all. And then I have another "thoughtful" gift to my friends who appreciate the fact they have something made especially for them. All of Alice Peterson's kits are absolutely great.
