I've used two of these now. They take wood stain well, and make the finished stitching look ready to display. Since they come unfinished, they soak up a lot of stain, so it took two coats. I wish they came in more sizes!

I used this not to put a hoop project in but a regular cross stitch. I cut a self stick mounting board to fit the round frame and put my project in there with an extra piece of cardboard for a backing. Left the hoop natural. It looks nice.

Only downside is I didn't realize I needed to install a way to hang, but it's beautiful and just what I wanted!
