A single strand hand-dyed cotton in variegated colors. It has more of a matte finish when stitched. Use one or more strands as required by the ground fabric. One strand is approximately the same weight as flower thread or Medicis wool. It is between a #8 and #12 pearl cotton in weight. It is available in all the same colors as Watercolours and the two threads can be used very successfully together for hardanger embroidery. Can be used for bobbin work on quilts. 36 yard skein.

Although the picture appears to have purplish / green tones, this is a variegated cotton ranging from very dark walnut brown through a medium olive brown. It is very well suited to working on antique toned linen. The variegation is not so extreme that the stitches do not blend well. In the hank, it has a subtle sheen, but when worked does appear more matte as stated. It has a looser twist than standard floss, and I suggest using a larger needle so that it does not wear through at the needle eye.
