from United States on 07/15/2019 - Cute Cat Ornaments Disappointment This is the first time I have used a Design Works Crafts felt kit. I wish I would have paid more attention to the manufacturer of this kit because I would never had bought it. Some years back I did a counted cross stitch project from Design Works and I decided I would never buy another Design Works kit. The pattern was difficult to read and the fabric was not the best. The cat ornaments kit is just as bad if not worse. I have worked with another felt appliqu manufacturer whose product quality is so much better. They print the cut out lines, sequin placement dots, etc. directly onto the felt pieces. You can cut out the pieces and start sewing the sequins on and doing the embroidery. When a piece is done, you can appliqu it to the felt background piece that has also been printed with placement lines. Very simple. Design Works prints only the placement lines for the individual pieces and a few lines for embroidery on the felt. The individual pieces are printed on a piece of paper which have to be cut out. Then, after that is done, you pin the paper patterns on the felt and have to cut them out again. This is twice as much work, taking twice as long to get your project done! The other manufacturer presorts all sequins and beads by color so you don't have to do this yourself. Designs Works has all the sequins and beads in one bag. Depending on how large your project is, this takes time. I needed at least 18 black sequins for the cats' eyes--there was only one in the kit. I had to go to several craft stores to find black sequins--another 45 minutes lost.
