While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:

1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.

2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.

3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.

All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

4 stars out of 5 from United States Tiny United States flag on 04/15/2019 - Love the design
I bought all four items in this collection and I have noticed that this kit feels like the company has been well "stingy" with both threads and beads. I have sweated every color of thread, sometimes finishing with less than 1/2 inch. The beads are the same. While I love the design I will shy away from buying more as dye lots for threads could mess up the look should I need them. I do this for pleasure and I do not want to sweat whether I will have enough supplies to finish. Feels like win the battle but lose the war.

4 stars out of 5 from United States Tiny United States flag on 02/10/2018 - Questionable thread colors
I had trouble determining which colors are which. It would help if the threads came on a piece of cardboard that had the symbols and or numbers labeled and separated. Also not sure I like the plastic as opposed to Aida fabric. Is there a reason it is on plastic?
