While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

The royal blue beads are petite, but in the chart it's recorded as a regular size beads stitched with half cross stitch. If you look on the preview, you will notice that this royal blue beads are indeed petite.

I flipped the perforated paper to the white side, changed the box to teal to fit in with my niece's Christmas decor, and the kitten to brown to match hers, using floss and beads I already had on hand (okay I might have had to place a 123Stitch order for brown beads for the kitten), and it turned out soooooo adorable! I would definitely do this kit again.
