While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:

1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.

2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.

3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.

All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

This Mill Hill beaded kit is absolutely adorable. I love how the one frog is popping his head out of the boot. The colours are so beautiful and brings spring gardening to my mind.

Although I like the idea of the garden boots and love the flowers on them, I was not crazy about the little frogs. However I’m not a frog person. I did finish the kit and will be giving it to one of my grandkids.
