While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

Surprisingly this arrived in the post yesterday. I have a feeling it got lost in transit as it took close to two months to arrive. I am looking forward to stitching this up soon!

I did this for our son who is a Dr. and due to Covid we have not seen in a long while. I wanted to do something special for him. After it was completed my husband made it into a card and we wrote our own message He was delighted with it and made his birthday a little more special during these difficult times. A great item from Mill Hill.
