While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:

1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.

2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.

3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.

All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

Arrived timely. I’m working on the drum part. Put some beads in place. The colors are bright like a lighted up Christmas tree. Everything was accounted for. Thank you.

This is a beautiful, colorful ornament. Lots of beads! I made it for a girl who's a percussionist at school, and I know she'll love it.

Beautiful colors. The center portion is tricky to cut out without bending the arch of the design. The sticks also cover a lot of the drum head, but the dimensionality of it is nice. Looks great with the set.

The brown thread called for in the pattern is missing. I contacted 123 Stitch and they said they would send it. I'm still waiting. I've done at least 6 other Mill Hill beaded items and overall have been very satisfied.

This kit is fun to do. Quick and easy. Best part is everything is included. When you put the beads on it comes to life.
