While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

All the snowflake ornament kits are gorgeous and come with everything you need except the backing. Usually enough beads to finish the job just in case you lose a few. I wish that this color of paper was available to buy for other projects!

I have many of these kits but this was the hardest one! Mostly bead work, but only a few stitches in each area made it hard to anchor the thread. The canvas was dark blue and with the blue thread almost impossible to see. But when finished, it was stunning.

Love the Millhill projects...so quick to stitch and they include everything you need. But, this one was by far the most stunning one yet! My family is fighting over this ornament...good thing I know where to find more!

Mill Hill does a wonderful job integrating beads into cross stitch patterns giving the end result more texture and in many cases, sparkle. This ice crystal kit was fairly easy to complete and gorgeous. It made a great gift for my daughter's teacher.
