While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

Loved stitching this picture and bought the frame to go with it. Not my ususal Halloween color pallet however it looks GREAT and adds to the other Mill Hill Halloween Witches and other “ormanments†hanging on my Halloween tree!

One of the thread colors was completely missing from the kit. Otherwise, I have enjoyed stitching this piece along with the many others I have stitched.

I saw several of the little Halloween kits stitched and framed at Share a Stitch this year in Memphis. I like the perforated paper a lot more than I thought I would. I having great fun with these little kits.
