While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

According to instructions there should be 2 shades of green and a beige. This is the first time I have had this happen and I have ordered and completed many mill hill products.

from United States on 02/20/2019 - Provence Rooster This little perforated paper cross stitch rooster worked up fast and is very cute. Love all the beads on this pattern. I stitched the wing beads directly on top of the black body instead of using the paper because I didn't want to see the paper. I wish the perforated paper included in each kit was closer to the majority color. A dark green would look better around the edge of the rooster than the tan.
