While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

Only “gripe” with the Mill Hill kits is they do it list how many strands are there for each colour. Would make it so much easier to sort. This one has a very light blue that is so close to white I missed it. I have done over 15 of these kits, so not inexperienced. I made it work and the recipient would never know, but it bothers me! IYKYK…

He turned out so cut! Just have to cut out a felt back and glue it on! These are nice to work on in between a big project! My grandson’s special ornament for 2024! One down 4 to go!

I’ve done several Mill Hill Christmas Snow Globes. They are relatively easy after the first few but the are about 5 shades of blue which can be challenging. Overall the kits turn out great and are appreciated by those who I give them to. Highly recommend.
