While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

I like this very much. Last year there was an oriole kit was available and this year it is a bluebird. Both are quite lovely and fun to do.

Mill Hill kits are always present in my stash, and I regularly buy them. This one belongs to the relatively new collection, and it's my second kit from it. The kit contains so much floss that it can be used for another project. I'm currently making seasonal little pillows with it, and the button included is incredibly cute!
