While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

I just started this new project, but know it will be beautiful. The floss is vivid in color which I love and the pattern is easy to read. All of the kits from Mill Hill (I've done many), have never disappointed.

I like everything about these kits except the Aida cloth. I am just not a fan of Aida. I think the four designs in this series are great and a quick and easy for America's 250th Anniversary.

Overall very pleased with the kit. The instructions were easy to follow. The only problem I had was that I was short five of the Mill Hill 02012 royal plum beads. Fortunately, I had some of the royal plum beads left from various other Mill Hill kits.
