While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

I love the design and the kit comes with everything needed.
I just want to say how disappointed I am with the new PVC that has replaced the perforated paper. It is absolutely horrible. I have had so many kits arrive with damaged PVC due to the fact the PVC is sticky (maybe not cured). Mill Hill then puts the black pattern right in top of the "latex" painted PVC.
It is absolutely impossible to get the pattern off without taking the colour off of the PVC. I have attempted many times to not damage the PVC but to no avail.
This seems to be happening with the browns, blues and blacks. I haven't yet had an issue with the white, but this has made me never want to purchase these kits again.
I love these kits and Mill Hill has now ruined what was a great product
This defect does not reflect any in the superb service 123 stitch provides. This is only a review about the Mill Hill company and their product.
