In my explorations of old embroidery books, I came across a number of rug designs in a book from 1880. While they were intended as inspiration for woven carpet patterns, I realized that a blackwork design could also show off the dynamic beauty of the geometry.
I loved roaming the woods and exploring shapes and designs in nature as a child, and still do today. There is a symmetry and balance within nature when one starts looking.
