In my explorations of old embroidery books, I came across a number of rug designs in a book from 1880. While they were intended as inspiration for woven carpet patterns, I realized that a blackwork design could also show off the dynamic beauty of the geometry.

This was stitched with Silk 'N Colors Mossy Cauldron silk (two skeins of 5 yard 12-ply floss required)and stitched on 32 count fabric. Stitch count is 117 x 117 and has 5549 cross stitches. Finished size is 7.31" x 7.31".
A pretty pink petal addition to the Garden Tales finishing at 140w x 168h. Charted with 7 DMC colors in pinks and greens with a few touches of yellow. Lots of motifs that could be pulled for smaller projects as well.
