This design was suggested by shop owner Marilyn after seeing our sampler Christmas Time! Our skating Santa can be stitched with the word "Joy" on his sack, or "Toys" since we include charting for both. Our model was stitched on 40-count Hemingway from Needle & Flax using DMC. Finishing instructions are included. Stitch count: 172 wide by 418 high.
Mary Garrett stitched her fine sampler at Claverton school in 1854 at age fifteen. It is a remarkable piece of needlework, incorporating five different alphabets all stitched meticulously over two on 72 count linen. More history is included on the chart.

The third in a series (after "Mary Barton's Work" & "Among the Roses"), this addition to the flock represents a visitor local to my area, with some unusual coloring from the original Victorian stitcher. Adapted from an antique original in my collection.
