In the Netherlands, autumn is usually wet and gloomy, and it is only in December that we celebrate Sinterklaas and Christmas. Now that Halloween is also celebrated here, autumn has suddenly become a lot more fun and we have cheerful October, November and December months.

My lace design series are all patterns that have been inspired by old pieces of lace. A number of stitchers have shared with me their wish for a design in this series that would be a little smaller than many of the others, and so the idea for Lovely Lace was born.
I enjoy doing color experiments in my designs and this pattern is the result of one. Using the highly variegated Weeks Dye Works Bethlehem with one coordinating DMC for each circle, it is so fun to see how a solid color brings out the different shades that make up the variegated thread.
