Note from designer: I chose to design the year 1867 on the pocket because while I was looking up some information on jack o'lanterns, I came across a site that told of the first image of a carved pumpkin being published in an 1867 issue of Harper's Weekly.
This design features a white cottage planted in a peaceful garden of spring daisies and lilies. The design does not have to be finished into a drum, however; it would also make a charming pincushion!

This time of year generally calls for vampire bats, but let's not forget about their flying-fox- cousins, the fruit bats! Fruit bats love fruit (figs being a favorite), nectar, and flowers. The bats themselves were quite a challenge to design, but I really had fun with them!
Having grown up in a military family, I have always loved patriotic holidays. To me, however, the entire summer is patriotic season! A beautiful red brick house adorns the center of this design. The bottom has a row of American flags, but a white rabbit seems to have stolen one and a red fox is in hot pursuit!

This is the second in the seasons pincushion series, and I think my favorite part about this chart is the Bible verse: Proverbs 31:21 - "She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet." I think that is just the loveliest verse!
