They tighten well and it's easy to stretch fabric on them. I used the 6" hoop to frame a gift for a friend, and it turned out beautifully. I would note that other listings on this site for F.A. Edmunds hoops say that their hoops are made in Germany--these hoops are not, they are made in China and say so on the package.
