The linen is stained and not dyed. Do not wash. Not colourfast Duxbury is a heavily stained linen. It contains a number of dark marks and stains on the linen and can contain water stains. This is as dyed. It is meant to replicate an old piece of linen which was not treated very well. If you later decide that you do not like the heavy staining, then a quick gentle wash in cold water without detergent, will remove most of the stains resulting in a softer antiqued linen more like Mayflower.

100% Linen, hand dyed. Due to the nature of the hand dying process and the structure of fabric counts, the color displayed on the item is a representation of the color dyed on 36 count linen. The color could be lighter or darker depending upon the base linen and the weather during the dying process. Whilst we do our best, we cannot guarantee colorfastness of any hand dyed fabric. If you wash your fabric, some inert dye might be released.

Please Note: Many fabrics are dyed in batches and made from natural fibers. As a result, color variation can occur between dye lots, counts, and fabric types, even under the same color name. Fabric dyers consider this normal and expected, particularly in vintage or antiqued fabrics, so feel free to contact us if selecting an exact shade is critical to your project.
