I have always loved the patterns by Marilyn Leavitt Imblum. They are of a good size and easy to read. It's a shame the Needlepaint threads are no longer available, but the DMC substitutions still make a pretty project.

The Needpaint flosses are no longer available, so you will have to use something else. The chart itself is a little annoying. It is one massive page printed on a tannish/yellow paper. I had to make copies (at a copy store, because the pattern was so big I needed a huge copy machine) to get it black on white because the symbols were hard to see. Also, I would definitely use three threads of floss, not two. I also suggest not using 32ct (over 2) because the stitches are just too big and you don't get good coverage. You can see a lot of the cloth behind the stitches.
