While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

I still can't figure out the name they gave this kit as it is not an elf, but Santa himself.

I am looking forward to x-stitching this kit after the first of the year along with the other three kits in the series. Mill Hill does well with their kits. My only suggestion is that they could label the very close-in-color floss somehow so I don't have to go to the store to figure out the colors. Other than that, I'm pleased with the product and with the service I have received from 123stitch. Thank you.
