This Mill Hill kit features beautiful birds, a bird feeder and snow covered trees. The kit includes beads, JABC button, perforated paper/pvc, floss, needles, chart and instructions. Finished size: 5.25" x 5.25".
While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

This was my first time doing beads and working with paper instead of aida so I was a bit intimated but it turned out so well! I’m very pleased. My only criticism is I wish the instructions had indicated which side of the paper was the “wrong side†when it came to finding the centre by drawing on it. I tried to decipher from the picture whether the dark or light side should be up but it was very hard to tell. I ended up stitching with the light side up but in hindsight, I think that was incorrect.
