While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:

1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.

2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.

3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.

All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

I have finished over 30 different of these kits and really enjoy them. The only comment on the down side is when there is a long row of beads the smaller bead makes a much nicer finished project. I have also done over 70 of the counted glass bead kits with treasure these are the smaller kits and I feel the same about these items. I have changed to the smaller beads when I felt they worked better. Only once did I have to call because I was shorted beads. I really enjoy working with these kits.
