While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

I so enjoy seeing my many beaded cross stitch ornaments on my Christmas tree each year. I've given some as gifts and the recipient just loved them. You get two charts in this one! The bigger version of this is Stitched on 28ct white over two. Stitch count is 85 x 82, and it calls for Weeks and DMC flosses. You're also getting the ornament chart as well as 18ct perf paper, wool felt backings, and a jingle bell. Finished size is 4.72 in wide X 4.56 in high.
