Designer: Mill Hill
Manufacturer: Mill Hill
Item: PP181
Type: Perforated PVC

2 sheets of 18 ct. paper per package (slight color variations may occur). Size: 9" x 12".

Perforated PVC is an alternative to evenweave fabrics for cross stitch, beadwork, embroidery and more! Unlike regular fabric, perforated PVC does not ravel, making it perfect for three-dimensional needlework or any project where edges will be exposed, such as bookmarks, magnets, jewelry, greeting cards, gift tags, embellishments and more.

Wichelt's new Perforated PVC is here! We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:

1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.

2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.

3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.

All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

Really like stitching on it.

Several years ago, I did a lot of 4-way bargello. I've been wanting to do some more but on a smaller scale. I haven't started yet, but want to see what I can do with the smaller count paper. I'm always thinking ahead and planning new projects so will let you know how this one goes.

I use this perforated paper on handmade cards. You can stamp on it, or you can stitch with it, and either looks amazing. I appreciated the advice from 123Stitch about using the perforated paper for cards, not Perforated PVC (which is plastic, so hared to stamp on).

Sturdy paper and arrived in great shape!

Did these projects in the early 80s and enjoyed them. Happy to see several projects by Hands on Design and happy with the needlebook that I am doing right now--it is truly sweet. Thank you for carrying this paper.

With the Perforated Paper changing to PVC I tried to buy enough packs of the old paper for future projects. The 18ct is my favorite because it's equivalent to 36ct linen. Happy with my purchase, and the quick service from 123 Stitch!

So glad I was able to find some perforated paper, it was really hard to not buy all you had, but I know how we all feel about it being switched over to PVC and thought we all needed to have a chance at some!

5 stars out of 5 from United States Tiny United States flag on 01/02/2026 - Enjoy working with Perforated "Paper"
I have really enjoy working with Perforated Paper. I gravitate to the 18ct since it mimics the 36ct linen when it comes to size. Have to say I'm truly disappointed that Mill Hill has decided to create new paper with PVC. I stocked up on the "paper" version, as best as I could, for future projects.

Storing up some 18ct perforated paper and am experimenting with tea dying it. The last one I did turned out lovely. I also stitched a piece on my tea-dyed creation and it was such fun to stitch on.

Love working with this product for over 30 years and I have never been disappointed yet. Just wish that 123Stitch carried some of the metallic colors that inspired me to this product. Great for making ornaments or cards with a personal touch. This 18 count is new for me and I look forward to stitching up some delicate bookmarks with it.

This is just what I needed to stitch some cross stitch Christmas ornaments.

5 stars out of 5 from United States Tiny United States flag on 12/14/2022 - Great Size!!
I'm currently working on a Christmas ornament that recommended 14 count perforated paper. Upon starting my project on that size, I decided the ornament was going to be larger than what I prefer to put on our tree. So I'm now stitching it on the 18 count, which is making the size of the ornament that I prefer. It is easy to work with. I use a size 28 Piece makers needle on it with just 2 strands of floss. I will definitely be using it for other projects in the future. Enjoying it!!

I am using a lot of perforated paper for cross stitch products these days and I wanted something other than 14 count but was having trouble finding it. 123stitch to the rescue (again)!
