While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

Nice kit. I don't like that the company is swapping out the button/treasure to a cheaper polymer button when you can still order/buy the Mill Hill treasures that is supposed to come with the kit.
Also, BEWARE of the new PVC product that they have replaced for the previous perforated paper.
The Mill Hill company puts the black printed copy of the pattern right on top of the "sticky" coloured PVC, and it is impossible to remove the pattern without removing and damaging the colour on the PVC.
I just want everyone to know of this inferior product.
This is in no way to reflect negatively on 123 Stitch, as they only carry the Mill Hill products.
