While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

from Australia on 08/09/2021 - Perfect small project This is my first Mill Hill beads kit and certainly won't be my last! The paper is really easy to stitch on and there are more than enough floss and beads to stitch this design for a second time.

from United States on 11/22/2015 I think this would be really lovely. However, I returned it because I didn't realize that the whole thing is covered with little tiny beads, and my old fingers can't handle them.
