Dye lots will always vary. The Cyprium I received is very dull brown with a couple splotches of orange. The photo shows more golden yellow, but that seems totally missing from my piece. It's still pretty though and can easily be used for autumnal designs.

First, I love all Picture This Plus fabric which is wonderful. On my computer this fabric shows up much brighter and almost orange. In reality it's a softer brown with hints of copper. I've purchased it to stitch Ink Circles Reflections on a Grecian Urn.

I had to look up the word, "cyprium." It has something to do with the copper. Ok. That sort of explains the naming of the color of this fabric. The piece of fabric I received is very rich, very close to the color on my computer monitor. It is the suggested fabric/color for Kathy Barrick's "Pretty as a Peacock" cross stitch chart. This chart is bold and dramatic in itself and "Cyprium" is the perfect background choice for it. I have never tried "Picture This Plus" fabric before because I thought it sort of gimmicky and overbearing. I have a different feeling about it now. I love it! You have to be sure to use "Cyprium" carefully, or else it might make your cross stitch efforts disappear in the dramatic browns and copper colors. "Pretty as a Peacock is perfect. I think Kathy Barrick and Carriage House Samplings have other designs that would play nicely with "Cyprium." The simpler the design the better. I don't think 123 Stitch carries "Pretty as a Peacock" anymore, so I suggest you google it to see a great pairing "P as a P" is with "Cyprium.""
