In 1892, the young stitcher Josephine poured all her patience into creating her large sampler. Garlands of roses, delicate bouquets, singing birds- a whole garden seems to bloom beneath her stitches, vibrant with tenderness and color. Her work, offered to her parents, carries a touching tribute- and even the little spelling mistake adds to its charm (though nothing prevents you from correcting it!).
"I am in the happy garden called Family, Like a living rosebush that grow(s) to love you. Through the humble virtues of a devout daughter, Sweet and heavenly fragrance, my heart wishes to delight you."
Stitched on 40 count Zweigart linen. The stitch count is 304 x 395 and the finished size is 15.2" x 19.75".
