I have sometimes found inspiration for a new cross stitch design when looking at quilt patterns and that was certainly the case when I spotted a 2-toned Mariner's Compass block at a quilt show. This design lends itself to any two colors that appeal to the stitcher.

Model stitched on 32 count Alabaster linen from Weeks Dye Works using two Gloriana threads (African Violet and African Violet Dark) and DMC 310. Stitch count is 77 x 77. Finished size is 4.8" x 4.8".
