I like to use white linen when working on a densely stitched project like Hanna Katerina by The Scarlet Letter. The motifs show well on white and the sampler is so busy it doesn't need the linen competing with it.

There is nothing more beautiful than 40 ct. White Newcastle Linen on which to stitch! I enjoy linen for my stitching I use it for surface embroidery almost exclusively. More than not, patterns call for White linen and my go to in the 40 count Newcastle. It is a delight to use and gives you a perfect finished project. I think this is linen is a very professional grade of linen. Elegant, uniform, exquisite are a few deions that come to mind. Perfect for a sampler. It drapes very beautifully, and easy to stitch.
