Elisabeth LeConte, 1786 is a reproduction of an antique sampler I found here in Maryland. This was a teaching piece at the 2023 Sunshine Stitchers Retreat in Florida last spring.
My reproduction is stitched on 40-Count Hawthorne linen from Fiber on a Whim using Needlepoint Silks. The stitch count is 197 Wide by 167 High.
Reproduced from a teeny-tiny, antique, petit-point picture from Prague (say that 10 times fast!), this charming scene is reminiscent of Delft tiles. Armande stitched her sampler from 1888 to 1891, it is actually very finely stitched and the original measures only 37 cm x 34 cm (14.6 inch x 13.4 inch). Multiple motifs are inserted among the alphabets. Stitch count is 491 x 439.
This is a revised version of an old design (#113). The original 2015 design has been out of print and I decided to rework it. JABC buttons are included. A cardinal is perched atop a basket of winterberry leaves berries.
