I couldn't resist the urge to create another Quaker Stocking after the enthusiasm I saw for my Quaker Christmas Stocking! This new piece uses the exact same linen and silks as the Christmas stocking.
It is stitched on 40-Count Wheat linen from Fiber on a Whim using Needlepoint Silks. Stitch count is 173 x 447. Finished size is 8.65" x 22.35".
Caroline College 1823 is a stunning sampler from the collection of Myriam Riley, who also stitched the sampler. I can't tell you how much I love this one. The organic border had me hook line and sinker. I have been a bad influence on Myriam as she now owns a number of samplers.
Mary Fosh 1821 has been an eight month stitch along for the Tudor Rose Sampler Guild, and she has a beautiful palette, and despite being English she looks like American Folk Art to me. She was so enjoyable to stitch, and I am so excited to share her with you.

The pattern stitch count is 266 x 266 and contains some over 1 in her name, date and the year which would make it unsuitable for stitching on Aida without adaptation. There are also some satin stitches and a few half stitches but the sampler is predominantly cross stitch over 2.

You know how much I like diagonals. It was inevitable this would happen someday. This actually started as a stocking, but I figured there would be those who didn't care about stockings but wanted to stitch it as a sampler, so I took the liberty of getting ahead of the request. :)
