Marie Duclos was thirteen years old when the spring of 1895 gently settled over her village. The hedges, still shy, were dotted with buds, and the first scents of flowers drifted through the window of the room where she sat each afternoon, her embroidery hoop resting on her knees.

Her mother often said that a sampler was not merely an exercise in patience, but a piece of life stitched thread by thread. Marie, for her part, saw it as a secret garden.

Stitched on your choice of fabric using DMC or Soie d'Alger threads. The stitch count is 287 x 276. Finished size is 20.5" x 19.71" on 28 count.
