Note from the designer - "This very delicate Scottish sampler with its bold color scheme was designed with a four sided stylized honeysuckle border surrounding horizontal rows of illuminated alphabets and double running stitch motifs. The extensive use of double running stitch lends the sampler a lacy, ethereal aspect. Family initials are stitched in the lower left corner along with her attribution: "Ann Forrest Her Sampler May the __ Day 1757." (The day of the month is not legible.) There is a pious verse in the lower right corner:

O Give Ye Praise Unto
The Lord All Nations
That Be Likewise Ye
People All Accord His
Name To Magnify For
Great To Us Ward
Ever Are His Loving
Kindnesses His Truth
And Years For Ever
More The Lord ODG
Ye Bless

Model stitched on 40 ct. linen using DMC and AVAS Silk thread. Stitch count is 33 x 39. Stitches used are cross over one and two threads of linen, counted satin, eyelet, and double running (back stitch). On 40 count linen*, the finished sampler will measure approximately 13″ x 15-1/2″. It is recommended for any skill level.
